Kuwait : Ballerine's presents 'Pop Up 2010 ... Keep on Rising' - Report by Vinod & Pics by James, Kuwait
Kuwait, Feb 6, 2010: 'Pop Up 2010', a dance programme was conducted on 30th January 2010 at the IEAS Hal, Kuwait. The students under the able guidance of Sudhi Fronteiro and their teachers put us a magnificent show which wowed the entire audience. A total of 75 performers spanning all age groups performed during the entire event. Pop Up is now an annual event from Ballerine's School of Dance (BSD) that is most informal in nature. This gives parents the opportunity of seeing their wards perform on stage and see what they have been learning at the dance classes conducted by Ballerine's. A total of 17 individual and group dance performances dazzled the entire crowd. The tone for the opening was set when 20 performers danced to a very popular song - 'All The best'.

Ballerine's which has completed 16 years this year, believes in grooming children for a complete experience rather than just teaching them dance routine. As part of this initiative, individual performers also presented dance sequences which were prepared by them (costumes, choreography, expressions & Presentation) as part of the intermediate level examinations. The event also had two performances which captured the winners & runners up positions at the recently conducted Carnival at FAIPS, Kuwait. These were absolute entertainers and the applause of the crowd could easily explain the brilliance of these performances.
It was absolutely wonderful to see children right from the age of three to fifteen performing various dance sequences which kept the audience wanting for more even at the fag end of the program. It was befitting that the last performance of the day was a tribute to Michael Jackson - the greatest entertainer the world has even seen and an individual who has inspired millions. This performance was definitely something to cherish.
The last part of the program was the distribution of certificates to all students who completed various levels of dance. Besides this, there were awards for 100% attendance bagged by Darryl Lobo, Shannon Mendonca, Shannon D'Souza & Neil Sanctis, Achievement Awards truly deserved by Mahek Mansukhani & Zenia D'Souza. This was followed by the Best student award which was won by Janet D'Souza. The top scorers of the exam conducted were also awarded with medals- the toppers being Khulsam Musaliar & Shreya Nair. Much to the surprise of Ms. Rovita D'Souza, she won a Special Award for having completed 5 years at BSD and completing the advanced level of dance. Rovita now is part of the trainers at BSD. The various awards and certificates were distributed by Ashwin Kumar, Lizzy Fronteiro, Robert D'Souza, Donny Mendonca, Ivan Lasrado, and Soniyah & Louis Rodrigues.
In a nutshell, this was a very well organized event which has had even adults evincing interest n joining dance classes. As part of its 16th Anniversary, Ballerine's School of Dance has planned various events this year. Keep watching this space for more information. The whole show was marvelously hosted by Mr. Ashley D'Silva. It was evening filled with loads of entertainment. The sound & lighting was provided by Nirvana Entertainment while foot tapping music was given by DJ Spinners. The media coverage was captured by www.canaraworld.com.
